What Is A PC PBX

PC PBX can be thought of in two ways. One would be the pbx that is hosted directly on the users computer where the user controls extensions and telephone lines directly from their PC keyboard and screen. The other would be a system that is hosted online by a telephone service provider. Either way, and in both cases, the pbx is completely managed on the computer.

In most cases, the hosted pc pbx provides the user with access to 24/7 customer service. Whether hosted or not, the pc pbx generally comes with similar features. The hosted pc pbx provides other important and popular items like, click-to-call, remote extensions, and the ability to grow as your business grows, up to 100 extensions.  With a hosted pbx, managing the entire phone system from anywhere in the world where there is an internet connection makes it easy.

With the growth of telecommuting, the PC PBX is certainly the direction telecommunications are headed. According to research by Undress For Success, approximately 40% of  working Americans hold jobs that can be done at home. However, based on data by the Telework Research Network, about 15 to 20 million people already work at home part time. These statistics are only on their way up, as many other factors such as gas prices, going green, and flexible work arrangements to combat traffic contribute to a changing mindset between employer and employee. The big company image needed by small companies in order that they may compete can be provided with a properly configured PC PBX.

The road warrior or mobile worker now amounts to approximately 20 million americans, so staying connected from anywhere in the world can be achieved merely by “logging-on” to your hosted pbx from any internet connection. The mobile business owner can manage their entire telephone system by using multiple extensions and advanced call routing while on the road. The future in telecommunications is just starting to take on a new shape, and in years to come, the hard-wired pbx may become the rare bird.
